Today a team of scientists headed to Mawson’s Huts. They left at 5‘o’clock in the morning and arrived just before 1 in the afternoon. There was a big cheer when we heard the news of their arrival.
But for the rest of the passengers, we all went Seal hunting. Not to kill them, but just to retrieve a small sample of fur and blubber. It was strange that on the days we’re not looking for them we do see them, and when we are looking for them we don’t see any. That should be enough information to tell you that no-one spotted a single Seal in all the pack ice that had broken off of the fast ice.
Afterwards we got off for a nice little walk of three kilometres (there and back). Annoyingly I forgot to put on my waterproof trousers and by the time I needed to get back on board, the ship had drifted too far away for us to get back on. So I went on that walk with my Mum and Nicole (the Art Teacher). Except even with the sprained joint I was going a lot further ahead than them.
I hope you will be able to hear from me again tomorrow.
